As the Algorand Foundation (ALGO) pulls millions from staking and shuts down nodes, Algorand’s decentralization and rewards are set to increase.

With over 4,000+ registered nodes, the re-introduction of staking rewards has been proven a success.

As more stakes come online, the Algorand Foundation has promised to withdraw from the ecosystem until it is completely decentralized.

Algorand Foundation to further decentralize ALGO network

Since the launch of Algorand’s staking reward system in January 2025, over 4,200+ nodes have been registered with ALGO holders staking their tokens to help decentralize the growing ecosystem.

According to the Algorand Foundation, the team has withdrawn 88 million tokens and shut down 2 of their staking nodes, a promise that was made before staking rewards were launched.

As nodes increase and ecosystem participants delegate their tokens to the network’s multiple staking options, the Foundation plans to withdraw from the system until the network is completely decentralized.

On Twitter, Algorand’s CMO shared proof of the Foundation’s efforts on February 6, 2025, with two transaction links.

According to on-chain analysts Messari, in Q4 of 2024, new addresses on Algorand increased 176% from 1.3 million to 3.5 million while average daily transitions grew 66%.

Messari also highlighted how ZTLment, an EU-based fintech company migrated from the Ethereum blockchain to Algroand for ALGO’s atomic transactions.

ALGO’s bright future

According to Algorand CTO John Woods, Algorand’s stake increased from 1.3 billion to 1.7 billion within two weeks.

As the Algorand Foundation continues to withdraw from staking, more rewards will be allocated to stakers.

In theory, Algorand’s staking system could grow to become the most robust and rewarding staking mechanism in the crypto market.

With node registrations rising monthly, there is a chance that Algorand could become one of the most decentralized blockchains in the crypto industry by beating Ethereum at the most stakes and node operators.
